CourtPlan is court rental booking software for coaches. Below are the questions volunteer and club coaches actually ask before they start — setup time, payments, court providers, free vs Pro, sharing plans, and the ages and skill levels we cover.
CourtPlan is also court rental booking software for parents, and the parent questions below cover booking, payments, coach vetting, refunds, scheduling, and cancellations. Jump to parent FAQ →
A CourtPlan practice plan is generated in about 60 seconds — pick age group, skill level, session length, and the focus area (shooting, defense, ball-handling, fundamentals) and CourtPlan hands you a structured, age-appropriate plan with warm-up, drills, and a closing scrimmage. Connection to local court rentals is set up once per facility: a coach adds the court listing, the available time slots, and the booking rules; once that listing is live, parents can book open slots in 30 seconds and you get the instant notification.
CourtPlan does not charge you for the booking flow itself — there is no per-booking fee, no commission on the rental, and no payment processor to set up. Parents pay whatever you set for that session; CourtPlan simply delivers the booking and the notification. CourtPlan does charge $9.99/month for Pro, which removes the 3-plans-per-week free cap and unlocks saved plans, unlimited exports, and multi-season plan history. Free coaches never see a charge from CourtPlan on top of the rental cost.
Today, CourtPlan works with any court you have a relationship with — school gyms, recreation centers, church gyms, YMCA branches, club facilities, and public courts. A coach lists each court directly in CourtPlan with the available slots, the rental terms, and the booking rules; parents see those slots in their local search. We are actively building direct integrations with regional gym chains and recreation departments so coaches can plug in a court in one tap, and that roadmap starts with the facilities our coach community asks us to support. If there is a provider you want to see connected, tell us from inside the app and we will prioritize it on that roadmap.
The free tier gives every coach 3 generated practice plans per week — that is enough for most volunteer coaches running practice once or twice a week, with one to spare. Pro is $9.99/month and unlocks:
Pro does not change the booking flow for parents — they always book for free.
Yes. Every generated plan has a share link you can send to an assistant coach or to a parent — no account required to view. Pro coaches can also save plans to their CourtPlan account and pull them up by name from any device, which makes handoff to assistant coaches smoother across a season. If you share with a parent, they see a friendly read-only view of the warm-up, the drills, and the closing activity, so they know what their kid worked on at practice that night.
CourtPlan covers youth basketball ages 5 through 13, from beginner through intermediate. Plans adapt to the age you pick — a 6-year-old beginner gets short attention-spanning drills, fun games, and very little standing-around time; a 12-year-old intermediate gets more advanced ball-handling, defensive footwork, and structured shooting reps. Skill level is selected alongside age at generation time, and every drill in the plan comes from CourtPlan's library of 35+ drills tagged by age and skill level.

Booking a court on CourtPlan takes about 30 seconds. Open the app, search by neighborhood or day of the week, and you'll see every open court slot in your radius — rec centers, school gyms, and private facilities in one list. Pick a slot, confirm the time, and pay in one checkout; the booking instantly notifies the host and the coach running practice at that court, and a calendar invite lands in your inbox with the address and any access instructions for that venue. If a coach is already running practice at that court, the booking also routes their practice plan to your kid's session.
CourtPlan uses Stripe for payments, so parents can pay with any major credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) plus Apple Pay and Google Pay on supported devices. Your card is stored at booking time and charged once for that session — there is no subscription required and no platform fee on top of the rental cost. A receipt is emailed automatically and a parent never sees a CourtPlan charge separate from the rental price on their statement.
Every coach on CourtPlan runs verified practices through the app. Coach accounts go through an identity check at signup, and the practice plans they generate are reviewed by CourtPlan for age-appropriateness and court-floor safety before they go live to parents. Because courts and coaches pair through the app, you can see exactly who is coaching the session your kid attends — coach profile, experience level, and the plan they're running — before you confirm the booking, not after.
CourtPlan refunds are designed so parents don't have to chase a host for money back.
Both. A one-off booking is the default — pick any open slot in the next 8 weeks and pay once.
Every cancellation on CourtPlan flows through one of three paths, and each has a clear default for parents:
